Edisto and the Tide Cycle

The South Carolina coast offers unique landscapes and ecosystems.  Vast stretches of tidal salt marsh, estuaries, and barrier islands lie still undeveloped or minimally developed.  On this day we fished the marsh during a morning flood tide and then shrimped a tidal mud flat during the afternoon low tide.  We had some sporting fun with a redfish, harvested one of the finest coastal bounties, and marveled at the movement of seven feet of water out of the estuary over the tide cycle.   Also, we had a crab pickin' party to clean the crabs Mom and Dad caught the day before we arrived.  And yes, we ate delicious crab cakes that night.
